Handwoven Glam | Collaborating for Killer Photos

Last blog, we talked about my very first collection, today I want to talk about my second! My second release was more complicated IN THE BEST WAY — Zoë Burchard wrangled together a fabulous crew of artists, models, makeup artists, and took amazing editorial and glamour shots.

We started with glamour shots, obviously. Before I could go play though, I needed to drop my husband off at work. Then I had to stop for fuel, a coffee and an almond croissant at Caffe Ladro (always delicious!). The drive to Zoë’s was about an hour, so it gave me time to get excited about the shoot, and get caffeinated.

Once I arrived I was swept up in introductions to the models and HMUAs (hair & makeup artists). We were all a little sweaty before we even got started as it was one of those hot mid-summer days, but everyone was in good spirits. I handed off my contribution (box of jewelry) to Zoë so she could style the models as she saw fit. I then found a spot out of the way to hunker down in and finish up a sunshine yellow bamboo cuff bracelet (it was still a couple of inches too short!).

Watching the models and Zoë do their work was mind blowing. So much goes on behind the scenes to create beautiful images. Lights, background pieces, and body parts constantly being moved and adjusted just so. Always making sure the jewelry was draped and highlighted just right. My main role was observing and answering questions about the pieces I created. But believe me, this was not some serious affair. So much fun & general silliness was had! At the end of the day, we all packed up to head our separate ways, excited to see what magic we had created.

A few weeks later, the editorial style shoot occurred. Sadly, I didn’t get to witness this shoot, but I did get to peek at the set created by Zoë and Kathryn while I dropped off jewelry the night before. I couldn’t wait to see the result of our efforts. Luckily, I didn’t have to wait long…the photos hit my inbox just a couple days later, and my jaw hit the floor when I saw them. Walace and Tiffany are absolutely heart stopping. I was absolutely stunned by Walace’s gown designs and makeup artistry. Paired with Zoë’s talent behind the lens, they created absolute gold-and my jewelry got to go along for the ride!

I never thought I would see my work displayed in this way. I am so grateful to all the talented people who contributed to the end result.
