One of my favorite earworms (aside from The Song That Never Ends, of course), with a chorus that represents everything in flux right now.

Hey, friends!

If you’ve been following me for any length of time on social media, you may have noticed lots of new stuff going on over the last couple of months. I’m going to chat a little bit about what’s changing, why, why it’s so exciting, and ask you for some feedback.

Don’t hesitate to use the Contact Us section of my website to reach out — that’s why it’s there! I know not everyone is comfortable commenting on posts, but I’d so love to hear from you.

Classes!

Folks! I’m super psyched to announce that I’m working with the Schack Art Center here in Everett to host my classes (still virtual for the time being) starting this month. While I’ll still be collaborating with Abacus Virtual Makerspace, that platform has pivoted a bit and we’re trying to balance how these smaller scale classes fit in with their ecosystem now. I look forward to announcing some other workshop opportunities in the coming months. By Fall, I’m hoping to be hosting in person classes again!!

Upcoming drop-sinning class!

On that note, if you’re seeing this before July 10, 2021, I am hosting a drop spinning class with Daydream Alpacas in-person, surrounded by fluffy alpacas and wonderful people, and would love to see you there!

Social Media Stuff

So, over the years, I’ve struggled to consistently and effectively post on my social media accounts. This is an issue as a small business owner with no brick and mortar storefront or presence because it really limits my reach.

I recently found a tool that helps schedule social media posts, categorize them, and do all sorts of wonderful things for me. Please be patient with the redundant posts as I struggle with the learning curve of a new tool and work to bring you the most relevant, useful, and exciting content possible.

What I really want to know is: What do you want to see coming from my feed?!

Bookshop.org (i.e. What I’m Reading)

This is really exciting, to me. I’ve been using Bookshop.org to buy physical copies of books for the last year instead of other major retailers for one HUGE reason. Bookshop.org contributes 10% of their sales to a bookstore of your choice! And your book arrives almost as fast as some of those other retailers (I usually get whatever I ordered in 2 days or faster).

When I post a link to a Bookshop.org shelf managed by Mia’s Handwovens, I am directing you to my affiliate account.

What’s really important there, though, is that you can change where the 10% goes! Direct it to your favorite local bookshop, or to the bookstore that was your safe haven as a child, or the This Podcast Will Kill You affiliate account (because the Erins definitely have earned that $$$).

Anyway… I’m using that page as a way to keep track of weaving, spinning, dyeing, and sewing books I’m living for right now, some of my favorite books in various genres, and hopefully your recommendations! (So send book recs to me any time! Because then I can buy an amazing book and make sure a cute little Whidbey Island bookstore near me gets a little bit of money even if I can’t make the trip out there.)

TL;DR

Classes are moving to Schack Art Center, but there’s a fun in-person drop spinning class at an alpaca farm in July!

I want to know what you want to see on my social media feeds so you’re excited to see my posts (and also, thanks for your patience as I get the hang of my new scheduler/posting tool)!

And I am soooo looking forward to your book recommendations, because books are love, and I like buying them via a website that supports local bookstores (and sometimes me).

Most of all, though, I love you and am so grateful for your support!!!

Thank you,

Mia

Super excited that this is a thing!!
